New Preview
« on: 2018 March 05 10:57:31 »
I have updated to the very latest version of PI. For some reason now I cannot create a preview by using the mouse and drawing a box around the area I want to select. There isn't anything available except create a new preview which opens a pop up box to define the preview using x-y coordinates. My MacBook still has an older version of PI and the preview is still selectable with the cursor.

Thanks for any help with this issue.

Hi,

Try the keyboard shortcut "Alt N", then the cursor should change and you should be able to draw the preview box.  There are two preview icons, one to create the preview and the other to edit the preview.

Well...thanks! I had actually tried that because that was the shortcut still available on my MacBook, but i swear it didn't work before I posted this... operator error.

At any rate, that worked, thank you very much!!!

If you have turned off "Show Previews" in a window you won't be able to create previews in that window.  I did this a couple of times by accident early in my PI career and it took me a while to figure out!

I've had the same problem several times. I'd always have to Ctrl-Right click and change the mode.  Then I "noticed" the toolbar (red box) and found that it's the easiest way to be able to mouse a preview. Alt/Option-N (blue box) pops the dialog as you mention.
