Hi, Mark! I sent one of my NEF-images to your e-mail adress which is on your website. The file is 27 MB, should be OK to mail it. Oherwise I can send it by e.g. sprend.
Thanks a lot for your help!

Thanks for the file.  I opened it using the "Pure Raw" setting of the Raw Format Preferences  in DSLR_RAW of Format Explorer.  But it opens as a greyscale version of the colour image and not as a CFA raw.  In other works, DCRaw is not handling this half-size format properly.  If it's any consolation, DeepSkyStacker and Iris can't open it either.

I suggest that in future you shoot full size images with your D810A - that should work.

For the data you already have, you can open them as colour images (e.g by using the "de-BayerRGB" setting of the Raw Format Preferences  in DSLR_RAW of Format Explorer) then align and stack them.  But you won't be able to use your flats, darks and bias files.

Thanks again - I learned so much talking to you - really appreciate that!
I will definately use full format raw in future. As for the pics already taken - that was nothing special - I took them to learn Pixinsight, and will take more when weather cooperates.  ;)
