Ha + RGB Challenge
« on: 2014 October 31 13:23:49 »
I've been using Vincent's method to add Ha to an RGB image of M31. This uses the method given in the Harry's Astroshed tutorial, that is, using two pixelmath equations to modify the red image.  The final composite shows orange Ha regions rather that red.   My attempts to make them more red mess-up both the galaxy and the background.  Suggestions are welcome.

I've been fiddling with this and have the same problem. Using LRGB combo with Ha for L (or using the HaRVB_AIP script) gives much better color and more detail, but the stars in the nebulosity have more of a halo. The line emission script leaves the stars larger. (frie.net/Horsehead2.jpg, using LRGB). Varied all the parameters, but unable to cure the orange problem.

Oh, and here's the version with the pixelmath method: frie.net/Horsehead_line.jpg
