A simple workflow for beginners
« on: 2014 August 24 05:39:51 »
Hi I've just published a simple processing workflow based on a picture from Goddchen M8 postprocessing contest.

It covers all the processing workflow in a simple way, good for beginners.

I hope you'll enjoy it

Thank you for your good tutorial.
Just a question: why do you use an aggregated image of background with stars for Background Neutralization? I suppose it could be without stars or dso.

Nice resource.  Thanks for your efforts.
Celestron CPC1100 - Canon 550D (T2i) and of course, Pixinsight!

Thank you for reading!

For  BackgorundNeutralization an area where sky is dominant is needed, so a few stars without extended colored halos are ok, the important thing is that you correctly set the Upper limit: I usually use Statistics on the Preview or the aggregated image and I set the Upper limit slightly higher than the median level of the image, in such a way you exclude the stars from the background calculation.

In this particular case I choose to use an aggregated image  from different patches of sky because the background was very uneven and so a single patch of sky wouldn't be representative.

Bye

Edoardo

Hi Edoardo
I didn't have the time to look at your current tutorial, but I wanted to thank you for the one of the lunar mosaic. It is with it's help, that I could realize my first mosaic of this kind.
Thanks a lot
