How do you get DBE right when constructing a mosaic?
« on: 2013 November 07 19:11:03 »
I finally got a decent mosaic of M31 but there is room for improvement. I think there was too much moon for some of the collected images making DBE difficult to get just right. I plan to retake some of these but I live in Indiana and we have entered the season of grey skies. Some channels, e.g., Ha, S2, O3 look better without DBE but you can tell there is a gradient. Some work better with. It seems that DBE is more an art than a science. How do you get DBE correction down to a science?

i suppose it is an art… basically you need to refine your sample placement and sample tolerance parameters until the extracted gradient looks like a gradient - smooth.
