Hi everyone

here is my result

Steps

1- RGB combination
2- Dynamic Crop on 1
2.5 Star align RGB using Lum
3- Automatic BackgroundExtractor on 2
4- BackgroundNeutralization
5- ColorCalibration
6- Noise reduction applied on RGB background using luminance mask (removed 1,2,3,4 layers on lum)
7-HistogramTransformation on RGB
8-HDRW on RGB

9-Luminance Noise reduction using luminance mask
10- HT on Lum
11- HDRW on Lum
12- LRGB combinaison
13-ATWT with 0.5 positive bias on level 2
14- Color Saturation
15- histogram adjustment using Curve on luminance

Hi guys,

Wow you have really nice results; well done! Thank you very much for processing my data.
If there would have been"a little bit" more signal; exposure length I think the images would be nicer again..
To have a real good image; there is no way around heavy data aquisition  :-\

@ Alejandro:

Really nice result; thanks for that!
Also thank you for posting your detailed processing explanation; a great deal for me to profine my own processing steps!
Is your workflow straight on for galaxies or Nebulas or is there always another way?

@ Martin:

Thank you also very much for giving it a try; appreciate your very nice result.
It is enjoyable to see that with a less complex processing and with the good settings a very good result can be achieved  8)
Did you use SCNR on some moment? By looking very carefully the starhalos have a slightly greentouch --> The only weak point of your rendition  ;D

All the posted Renditions of my M51 data are really beautiful and give me the Kick to go further in my processing!
My processing challenge turns out into a processing challenge for me  >:D

Again thanks to all those who 'til now gave a try!!

Dear friends. Is it possible to upload process icon (this is easiest way to try your process), than manually write step 1, step 2, step... Thanks. :-)

Hi
Thanks Lex for the comments

As for the green color around stars you are wright. the next logical steps with this image would be to make a star mask and restore the gaussian aspect of the stars with ATWT and then remove the green with SCNR with the mask still ON.

If you dont mind I'll use your picture to do a screen capture video of the whole treatment process and also publish the process icons for others to try.

This video shows how to restore stars gaussian aspect and how to remove the green color around large stars.

Please enable 1080p to see the settings I use.

Martin;

hey that's an awesome tutorial!! Easy to understand/follow and very helpful!! Grateful for this; thanks  :D
An other effect of the video is that I remarked that you have the same "problem" than me when you undo something you also often activate the upper part of the left explorer bar; without wanting it  >:D
Kind of boring to close it back again  O:)

Thanks chap!
Clear Skies!!

@ Alejandro:

I see the Noise you have talked about; try to solve it but no chance to test it here in cloudy Luxembourg  >:(
I think I did a mistake while uploading; I had applied HT to the Lum; sorry for this   :-X

Best

Lex: Yes the Lum file you provided is already strectched and the black point show some (significant) clipping. it would be best to have a linear file.

Strangely I dont see post by the name of Manuel in this thread. I think I dont see all the posts  ??? ??? ???

Hi Lex, in fact the workflow is allways diferente (I guess it depends on the day), but is similar at the beginning before HT and most of the times include some of the following process: (CBR - BN - CC - DBE - Noise reduction - Deconvolution)

Ooooooooooooooooooopppppppppppppssssssss  :footinmouth:

@ ALEJANDRO:

Sorry for that  :-[
:) Ja, ja, don't worry, we are a lot of people here, difficult to identified each one!

Martin, very good result, I like color and details in the galaxy, very soft, I could not  achieve that. The background remain with some noise seen as color grains.

This video shows ...
Martin
Martin, what program did you use to record it?

An other effect of the video is that I remarked that you have the same "problem" than me when you undo something you also often activate the upper part of the left explorer bar; without wanting it  >:D

Good point! I have Process Explorer and Process Console in the Right-Top and Bottom, and now changed the rest to the Left-Bottom

Saludos. Alejandro.

Lex: ok I'm happy to see that I dont miss some comments in the forum
Also the pc I used to record the video is not my main workstation so the settings to prevent the process consol to pop out was not wright. Its the Hoverable autohide window selectors check box in the global, preferences window.

Alejandro: thanks for the nice comments. For the video I use Debut video capture pro for NCH. It has the ability to produce very high quality video but very small video file.
