Disabling progessive visualization of menus
« on: 2007 July 23 00:03:25 »
Hi there,

I'd like to turn off the effect by which the PixInsight menus appear with a decreasing transparency. All windows in my Linux desktop have this feature (thanks to an utility called xcompmgr) and I'm seeing an ugly effect when navigating the PixInsight menus. Namely, that they appear, then disappear and then appear again in a quick succession. I guess that happens because both transparencies are fighting each other.

Cheers,

Disabling progessive visualization of menus

Hi David,

You have this implemented in new version 1.0.35.311 RC6, which I'll upload this afternoon.

Since we still don't have a Preferences interface, you must edit the configuration file, namely:

   ~/.config/PleiadesAstrophoto/PixInsight-1.0.conf

(Windoze users, this involves messing with the Windows Registry with regedit.exe; do that at your own risk)

Locate the following keys:

   Preferences\MainWindow\AnimateMenu
   Preferences\MainWindow\FadeMenu
   Preferences\MainWindow\AnimateCombo
   Preferences\MainWindow\AnimateTooltip
   Preferences\MainWindow\FadeTooltip
   Preferences\MainWindow\AnimateToolBox

These are boolean keys, so setting them =false will do the job.

In addition, there's also a new boolean key that may be of your interest:

   Preferences\MainWindow\DesktopSettingsAware

Thank you.
