Orion wide field with plain kit lens
« on: 2010 February 07 05:30:46 »
Hi,

attached is an picture of Orion that I took with my 35 mm kit lens at f/4. It is a stack (with DSS) of 34 shots of 2 minutes each, made under the bright and slightly foggy skies of my backyard. The fog in this case enhances the brighter bits of the constellation...

Interesting effect.  I know nothing about your optical setup but like the result.  Nice colors too.

I like that Bernard's Loop is visible.

Hi,

- the optical setup is an EQ5 class mount, tracking but no guiding,  a Canon EOS40D, a CLS clip filter and the 35mm lens that comes with the camera. The aperture was reduced to f/4 to get reasonably sharp stars. Rather low tech compared to what some of you are using...
- Barnards Loop is barely visible. I was hoping for more, but the skies were probably to bright.
