Setting Process Defaults

This probably exists and I just haven't come across the answer.

Can you set the defaults for the various processes?

I have a terrible habit of forgetting to check the drizzle box at registration and always realise just before the second or third last frame has gone through the mill......

I'm not entirely sure what you are getting at, but you (nearly) always have two options at your disposal on every PixInsight process that you might be working with.

The first is that you can 'reset' a process to its default settings  - although these settings are the 'PI defaults', not yours.

The second is that you can save a process (either to one of your Workspaces, or to your filing system). If you then reload the process icon from your filing system, it will be placed on whichever Workspcaes it was associated with, and you can start using that icon to open the desited process window, with the settings that you consider most appropriate for your needs.

The ability to save, load, replay and re-use Process Icons is one of the most powerful features of PixInsight, and one that sets it apart from virtually all other software packages.

If I have misunderstood your original question, making my answer meaningless, please explain your problem further and see if we can help you.

Thanks Niall.

Ah, of course. Once I've set my usuals I could just save the process icon set, that would do the job.

What I was asking was whether you could adjust the initial state of the various checkboxes on the base processes; that simple example being the "Generate Drizzle Data" checkbox in Star Alignment. It does persist within a session, I just wondered if you could make it persist generally.

Cheers,

Davy

What I do is make up a workflow by opening the first process required, adjust all parameters to my liking, then make a new instance of the process, name it and then position it (collapsed) to the side of the workspace. I repeat this for all the processes I need for my workflow and lastly save the finished thing as a project. When You need to recall everything just open the project and if you adjust any parameters you wish to keep save the project overwriting the previous version. Hope that makes sense.
I have two workspaces, one for pre-processing and one for post processing.
