Juan and Vicente

Does anyone know what has happened to Juan and Vicente?  It has been quite a while since I have seen a posting by either of them.

I, too, am wondering about what's going on with PixInsight. The last time Vicent Peris posted to this forum was November 17, 2017. Except for one post in July, the last time we had sustained communication from Juan Conejero was May, 2018. And the forum itself has seemed very quiet in recent months.

I am very respectful of all the effort that has been put into PixInsight by Juan and his colleagues, but these are not good signs.

Hi Russ,

You said,
Quote
these are not good signs

The PI community is huge now, there are many users who have thousands of hours of experience working with PI, and who are happy to share knowledge whenever they can.

Vicent and Juan may be working on further development of PI that they are not yet ready to share with the community. But, they may also just be taking time off. Many of us are keenly aware of other members of the PTeam who are now, sadly, no longer with us (RIP, Sander).

For those who absolutely have to contact either Juan or Vicent, then there are other means available to them. For everyone else, let the Forum Community try and help in the first instance.

Hi
Very strange Juan didn't connect on this forum since July 24th.
Hope all is fine for him.
Cheers

Thank you all for worrying about me.

I'm fine. In fact, I'm working on the next version of PixInsight right now. I am also working on several new projects, mainly along with Vicent Peris, in which PixInsight finds very interesting applications, as well as some applications quite different from what is usual. So there is definitely activity on the programming front.

To be honest with you, I must confess that I ended up pretty burned last year. I had to finish the latest 1.8.5 version under heavy pressure, and the post-release period was not very nice, to put it softly. I was exhausted. I really needed a break. It's not that I have not been working on PixInsight during this year; I have done more than it seems, and the work done will pay off in future versions. However, during this year I have dedicated more time to my family, to finish a new house, and to other activities that are very important and vital for me, especially music (besides programming, I play guitar more or less seriously). Quite simply, I had to distance myself for a while from PixInsight, at least with the intensity with which I was dedicating myself to this project for many years in a row.

So I'm back. Ready to fight and get involved again in PixInsight, with all that this implies, including the funny and the hard parts. Stay tuned!

Burned, but not 'combusted!' ;>) And don't forget that nice swimming pool! Good to hear this Juan, and that you're playing also. I got hired by an interesting rock band and am playing every Friday and Saturday- feels good to be back at it again.
Best always, Warren

Hah - The Jedi Grand Master has finally de-cloaked (there's nothing quite like mixing two entirely different space-based adbentures to show just how confused my brain is most of the time :) )

And, of course, he has returned to us with the promise of even better things to come. Just please, Juan, "Take your time". Many (most) of us haven't even found the edges of the v1.8.5 envelope yet, far less have we found the need for said envelope to be modified too much.

I think you need to invest in a floating chair and table (semi-submersible of course, for those really hot days) and a decent waterproof workstation, and that you should perform all modifications required for any future releases of PI whilst afloat. Sorry, but you may just have to resort to drinking your wine "straight from the skin" to avoid contamination (or, worse, dilution) by the pool water, and I have no idea whether you will be able to waterproof a guitar (but I would start with WD40 and duct-tape), so you may have to concentrate on PI in the meantime  :D

Please let us all know when we can download "Los 40 mejores éxitos de Juan Conejero"

It looks like Vicent stopped doing classes and the documentation for sale effort.  Would still be interested in seeing the workflows from the classes available for purchase.
