Orion Nebula
« on: 2017 April 13 23:17:11 »
Had fun (?) processing this one. Most of the data comes from January this year with an FLI Proline 16803, but the seeing wasn't quite as good as I would have liked. Fortunately I had some good data from December 2013 taken with my QSI camera over a much smaller field of view than I have with my current setup. The seeing was good enough to almost get 6 stars in the trapezium. They appear as bumps on the brighter stars, so I used that data for the central region.

Geoff, that was well-deserved fun. A really nice result, which might end up accidentally falling out of my printer before being pinned to the observatory wall (to remind me that all these cold, sleepless, nights have been worth every penny that I have spent on this insane 'hobby'  :'( )
Cheers,

Nice one Geoff. Processing of M 42 is always a challenge and you did it exceptionally.
