Hi,
inspired by a discussion with Herbert and some experiences I've made in another program, I developed this script.
To automate the creation of custom catalogs you can download the entire catalog from Simbad and copy row by row to an ASCII file. This can very soon become critical, when you are calling for large data sets.
Another way is, to ask only for one or more object types you like to see in your annotated image. This is, where TypeCat can help. The script does a cone search and clips unwanted objects outside the image frame.
For the first time you can download TypeCat.js from here:
Later I will update my repository.
Regards
Hartmut
