Resolved: Defaulting to 24-bit Lookup Tables (Discard, seems this feature already exists.)

As a qhy268m user, when I stack images containing long integrations they often look posterized when using the default screen transfer function on linear data. I always have to hit the "Use 24 bit lookup tables" button on the toolbar to allow the screen transfer function to show me a realistic look of the data. I would love to have this option enabled "by default" perhaps an option in global preferences to allow all images to open with this option enabled by default.

note that the reason this is not the default is that the STF takes 3x as much memory when in 24-bit mode, so making 24b LUTs the default would be a source of memory pressure that is almost never needed.

not disagreeing that you need it, just letting you know why it's not the default.
