Processing Wide-Field Images With Large Nebulosity?

M45 and M42 areas are a few months away. Are there any tricks to processing wide-field images with large nebulosity?

Thx

Yes. Particularly with DBE (symmetries). The new NSG script will also be a new powerful ally for the normalization of data.
(wide field data in particular can suffer from maladies due to poor normalization results).
You know what I am going to say next... I have public free videos on both of these topics. I can't remember who eschews my work however, so I apologize in advance if you are in that set.

I think several (libraries full of) books have been written on the subject ... :)
The nice thing about M42 and M45 is that they are both bright, so even in the UK I can usually capture lots of data. I've still only started to explore the processing possibilities. M42 in particular rewards HDR processing, but I've not yet produced a result that really satisfies me.
