General / Asteroid Photometry
« on: 2020 January 02 08:01:34 »
Does anyone know how to do asteroid photometry?
I already used the Aperture Photometry script for variable stars, but asteroids do move and therefore I don't understand how I should use the "User defined object" panel in this case.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Hello, is there any update on the matter?

If there is no official documentation, is there any unofficial tutorial which explains what to do?

I am also having this issue, especially when I put more then 20 files in debayer. Very annoying indeed. I am using the latest PI on Win 10

Let's suppose you have a Variable Star time sequence with a lot of images and you want automatically to do:

- image calibration
- plate solving of the first image of the sequence
- aperture photometry with data table export

1) How would you do that from command line?
2) How do I pass the parameters from the command line to the scripts?

I am also interested to the answer to this question. I think it is crucial to have PI in a autoatic production workflow, otherwise I need to orient myself toward other packages which allow that.

As far as I understand (no replies) there is not way of doing it, is that correct?

Dear All,

is there a chance to run PI in batch and executing a script with results normally in console, saved in a file?
For instance I would like, at the end of an image session, to run PI with FWHM Eccentricity and take some decisions based on the output of that script.

Definitely a pity...I needed to automate some of my calibration routines and wanted to use my favourite programming language...  :(  :'(

Hello All,

I've seen that a while ago a module was developed in order to do PI scripting by this programming language. At what stage is it? Is it still alpha or now is stable and into the mainstream release?

Bug Reports / Re: Error in Image Integration with SSWEIGHT keyword

Negative weights are not allowed.

Thank you! I wonder how come they come out that way...

Bug Reports / Error in Image Integration with SSWEIGHT keyword
« on: 2016 September 30 05:37:17 »
Dear All,

I get sistematically this error:

*** Error: D:/tmp/VdB24_L__0000_c_cc_a_r.xisf: Nonexistent or invalid weight keyword 'SSWEIGHT'.

The keyword is existent and I assume its value is valid as it comes from the subframe selector.
See attached the screenshots related to the error and the fits keyword as it appears on the header

Can you please help me?

Thanks a lot

Image Processing Challenges / Serious Issue with Flatfield
« on: 2016 March 22 15:37:30 »
Dear All,
my imaging train is: focuser+adapter+SX-AO-LF+CCD
If I take off the SX-AO unit from the imaging train all is fine, but when I have it, I get a weird uneven illumination field (the external brighter ring). I tried with either flats from a flat panel and sky flats but they do not have success in flatting the field. The issue is visible only on L and R filters, and not on G and B. I am using Astrodon Gen2 E filters.
I'm so much confused now that I would give everything up and just use the DBE from PixInsight, but I'd rather prefer to fight against the issue from the source, but I don't know what to try next.
I attach a raw frame stretched to see the uneven field illumination.

Thanks Alejandro, tweaking the DBE parameters and using a lot of samples (60 per row) it seems I managed to get rid of it.

Still looking for a solution to this, this is how the image looks like after calibration (a ddp just to show everything)...

Still no there any issue with my images? Should I post the fits?
