Thanks Juan. FYI I downloaded and installed the version with the workaround for MacOS and do not experience any problems.

Well, it is a recommendation, not a practical limit, so it certainly is true. But it also says that PI can run with less memory. As a matter of fact, the minimum required amount of RAM, according to that page, is 8 GiB and the minimum reasonable amount is 16 GiB.

You probably checked this already but are the binning and gain+offset or ISO (depending on which camera you used) the same for the SII darks and lights? You mention hot pixels only so that's why I ask about darks only and not about flats.

Thanks very much for this update Juan. One minor comment. The file startup.scp still states as the bottom

// ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
// /PixInsight/etc/startup/startup.scp
// Released 2018 OCT 14

Perhaps this could be updated with each new version?

Tutorials and Processing Examples / Re: EasyPixInsight.com

Thanks, that looks really great, well done! One suggestion though. On the LRGB Processing page I see this warning

Please Note- you must be running the latest version of PixInsight, for the provided icon set to work!

Perhaps state the actual version used or the minimum version needed instead, since the icon sets are bound to change over time and you probably won't have time to update all videos accordingly. Or is that exactly what you intend to do?

Thanks again, Wouter

I always use the CR2 files as inputs and then work with the XISF files as they get produced by PixInsight and never had any issues. As a matter of fact, file conversion should be avoided in general since this *may* lead to data loss. Not sure in case of CR2 to XISF conversion though.

In any case, to answer your question "Is it necessary to convert the .CR2 files to .XISF before processing them in Pixinsight?": no!

I just had a look and the project file is a plain text file which contains the xpos and ypos for the different project icons. Perhaps you can locate the ScreenTransferFunction icon in it and modify the xpos and ypos by hand?

EDIT: sorry this won't work as it only affects the position of the icon and not of the window.

Hi JY,

Open the project on the computer with the 4k screen, drag the STF window to the upper left and save the project. Then import the project again on the laptop.

By the way, you didn’t see any scroll bars on the laptop? They should appear as soon as you open STF.

Same experience here. I have not been able to Calibrate/CosmicCorrect/StarAlign/Integrate any lights yet though.

Updating MacOS to Catalina went fine on my 2015 MacBook. I'll try to test PixInsight a.s.a.p.

Hi Ken,

Do you see those dark areas in the individual subs as well?

It is in the XISF section in the Format Explorer. Select XISF and then click Edit Preferences to the lower right to enable or disable compression.

Drag the triangle icon from the process window on top of the desktop icon. This will open a popup asking you to replace the current instance so click yes. Then save your project.
