Follow up question.

Having successfully registered the red stacked image from my 8SE scope with the red stacked image from my ED80 scope I then tried to use ImageIntegration to combine the 2 red images but Pixinsight gave me an error message saying it needed at least 3 images.

What do I use to combine the 2 red images. The intention was to combine the 2 reds, 2 blues, 2 greens before combining them into an RGB image

Hi

Just started out with a Ha filter and I am looking to use the video tutorial you produced http://www.harrysastroshed.com/pixinsight/pixinsight%20video%20html/pixinsighthomeinter.html and Vicent Peris' equation. I have a small query on the first PixelMath equation used. The number 12 is used in the video and said to be the size of the filter. Can you clarify was the size refers to?

Many thanks

Alec

Thanks Andres for putting me in my place.

I have looked at the relevant change on my Pixinsight software and as you say all you have to do is click on a check box. It didn't seem that simple or that it would definitely work as set out by Juan in his post!

Point taken about Dell

Alec

Hi Wes

You are talking to a non-technical IT person here, so changes have to be simple!

What are you saying: Uninstall the copy of Pixinsight I have, install the new version and make the change you refer to? I was concerned re Juan's comment on each "possible" workarounds which said "if that doesn't work".

Hi folks

Just seen the post regarding the new updated version and the problem when using a Dell computer. I have a Dell machine and there is no way I have the ability to make the changes to the machine that you say are required to get the new Pixinsight software to run on my machine. Presumably my only option is to continue to use the existing version of Pxinsight. Presumably this will continue to run???

Does these mean I should cease to convert my RAW files to fits files but convert to xisf files before calibrating etc?

General / bright colour mosaic?
« on: 2015 September 21 05:21:49 »
Hi folks
More advice required.
Have taken 5 images of the Milky Way with a view to producing a mosaic. DSLR camera used.
I have calibrated, debayered, registered and integrated each set of images. Then cropped and ABE each one. Ending up with 5 images.

When attempting to merge the first 2 images using the simple process set out in Steve Allan's tutorial (www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2r3ZYqCaP8), the 2 images clearly overlap and I duly end up with a mosaic, however it a brightly coloured mosaic. See attached.

Any advice would be welcome

Thanks

Alec

Hi A

Just did that and it worked - Magic!

I can't say that I have used this before, I always simply click the STP Auto Stretch and it has always worked before?

Very, very many thanks for making an old man happy.

Take care

Alec

Hi Alejandro

Thanks for taking time to investigate.

When I put the same files into my copy of Pixinsight I still get the same red image. Not sure what I am doing different my screen shot is attached. I run Image Calibration and debayer the result and then do an autostretch and get the red image?.

See attached

Hi folks

I have posted again as a separate subject, having found some sort of problem with the flats which is causing the red images.

See subject "more trouble with flats"

Help would be appreciated
