Release Information / Re: New in PixInsight 1.8.5: FrameAdaptation

I have a big mosaic of the Orion region with lots of gradients waiting since May, which I stopped to work on in order to make use of this promising function. Juan had promised to describe its usage in September; unfortunately now 2017 has almost passed... :'( :'( :'(

Excellent images!

To me they look like hot pixels which were not removed, because you didn't use bias (and darks?) and which produce a line because of the drift present in your polar alignment after image registration. I would try cosmetic correction on individual frames before debayering.

Very interesting tool for me too. Since I have to do imaging at some distance from my home I only get a few hours per session. I always end up with sets of frames which differ a lot.

General / Re: MLT and hpw many layers to use

If you are unsure how many layers to use I suggest to check your image with the script ExtractWaweletLayers prior to using MLT. It shows you what information is included in which layer.

Juan explained everything.

Btw. the 72ppi can be changed in Preferences/Default Image Resolution

Thanks for the explanation Vincent.
In my case I made an error during taking flats and used the master flat of an older session which was not calibrated.

I can also confirm this (I beleive recently introduced) bug in BPP. I lost several hours wondering what went wrong. Actually I had processed my frames manually and wanted to try the BPP script for the benefit of easy bayer drizzle application. The manually calibrated frames were correct, but those calibrated by BPP had wrongly applied flat fielding.

Swimm, thanks for the Information, I will check if that helps in my case.

Clear skies!

Yes :)

Hello Chris,

I have recently used MLT for sharpening the corona of my solar eclipse images. I did use a mask to protect low S/N areas and then carefully increased the bias slider in the 'Detail Layer' area up to layer 4. The corona was nicely sharpened. Of course one has to be carefull not to boost noise, so the application will depend on the image data.

This is what I could achieve:

General / Re: Toolbar customization
« on: 2015 January 07 12:39:54 »
Thanks Jim and Zocky. I was already suspecting that it isn't possible...

I knew that I can switch off toolbars, but this isn't what I want. Just to give an example: The "Preview" toolbar has icons for new preview, modify preview, clone preview, show preview, next view,... it keeps going on. I never use any of the icons except new preview and modify preview. The rest just consumes space with the effect of moving in other toolbars important icons into the ">>" menu. I could use a second or a third row for toolbars to make all icons visible, but this cuts into my workspace which I can't spare.
