I am getting an error trying to test starnet. At the end of the process is tells me "permission denied." Does this mean Starnet will not work on my system? It is a relatively newer W10.

Hello, my star alignment has been failing. I am using the following settings, but still most subs are failing "failure to detect putative.."

It should not be like this. The sky conditions were good.

anyone have any ideas? Thank you


 - Detection scales 3
 - Noise scales 0
 - Hot pixel removal 1
 - Noise reduction 5
 - Log sensitivity -1.00
 - Peak response 1.0
 - Maximum distortion 0.500
 - Upper limit 1.00

General / Strange results when using the full PI Pre-proc algorythm

I am having no problem now thanks to some insightful help on this forum and reading Keller, with BPP, but even with following Keller I am having problems with my integration results when I proceed with the full PI pre proc. I think too much red. I am just not sure.

But here is what the integration of my Orion Nebula looks like using the full PI pre-proc algorithm re Keller. The only thing I did differently was not check off optimize dark ( i did check off calibrate) when calibrating the flat frames. 

The attached is what I am getting.

Someone here must have had these results before.  I extracted the channels here only to see what they look like and the red looks off.

Can someone help me out with BPP settings? Firstly, why do I always have to add star alignment as a separate process to the debayred images? I thought BPP was supposed to align the images but it never does for me.  Secondly, when I add cosmetic correction to the script
it does not turn out right. I think it might have to do with the CFA setting -- is it supposed to be selected on the script or on the proc?

Is there a way to get cosmetic correction integrated in the BPP properly?,  because I have not had luck.

as a follow to my above post, I really might have some significant issue here with PI pre-processing.  Maybe it is in a calibration frame. The reason why I think so, s running BPP,  I am still running into problems.  I did not use masters for BPP.  if anyone can help me out,  I am linking a sample of each calib frame.

Thank you for responding. I am not sure where I am going wrong. here is the next file in the sequence. Without the previous sub, the integration is okay.

and this is my settings for image calibration ---- but maybe the problem is flat calibration, where I try and subtract flats. Not sure

I appear to be having more success just using BPP. But am I losing out by just doing bpp for everything?

trying to run image integration, after having completed CC, DEB, SA, and the following error comes up:

*** Error: F:/PI/7000/sa/7000-3_002-3_c_cc_d_r.xisf: Zero or insignificant signal detected (empty image?)
<* failed *>


There certainly is an image(s) to integrate however. What in the world is going on here?  anyone have a clue? thank you so much!

The image I have on the screen (not detected) I applied STF for the purpose of being able to see the signal.
 

Here is a link to the star aligned file -- one of 15 or 16 files trying to integrate but the one the error message indicates to.

Hello, my decisions are not permanent because I can just  re-integrate the image and process once again. But how should I approach the process differently?

This was done OSC, would I still do the linear RGB? I am not sure of all the terminology.

I hope this is not asking a lot from members here, but I would really like to know if there is potential for post processing improvement on this image?
What appears to me is that I would like to extract luminance from the core, but I was not successful in this case. Re process LRGB comb, I have the  sat slider at .2 and lightness slider at .5, nonetheless I had tried several combinations and this was what I came up with.

I got the same artifact again from last night's integration.   :-[


ABE seems to get artifact removed.
