Bug Reports / Dragging processes and masks
« on: 2017 September 09 10:21:19 »
Hi,
I installed the latest PI-version (Version 01.08.05.1352 Ripley (x64)) on a late 2009 Imac with El Capitan (12 GB Ram) and have problems when dragging processes or masks on images. When I drag a process on an image PI does not react. When dragging I have to wait over the image fore two seconds with the mouse button pressed and when I let loose the process will be applied. Applying masks by dragging is not possible at all.
Any ideas?

Wish List / OIS - Optimal image subtraction
« on: 2016 November 29 11:26:51 »
Hi,
I would very much like to have a tool for OIS (optimal image subtraction) as described by Alard and Lupton in 1995 (https://arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/9712287) in PixInsight. That would help identifiying transients in image series. Or is there a way in PixInsight I don't know to do this? A simple pixelmath-operation is to coarse.

Wish List / Decompression of fz-files
« on: 2016 August 10 10:39:31 »
Hi!
PixInsight can't read fits-files compressed with the fpack alogrithm (https://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/fitsio/fpack/). If someone would implement this, I would be glad.

General / Join plots from SubframeSelectorScript
« on: 2016 January 30 10:28:48 »
Hi,
the SubframeSelector-Script produces several plots to describe the data quality of a series of images. It is also possible to export these plots. The result is a single fits-file which seems to contain all the plots. I am looking for a simple way to join all these plots in one single jpg-file or gif-file. For this purpose I would need to put one plot below the next. I think Pixelmath could do this in a loop, but I'm not skilled enough... :( I also tried with PreviewAggregator and ImageInsert...
Thank you

General / Get rid of reflection
« on: 2015 March 14 12:50:07 »
Hi,
I have a non-astronomical image wich however requires a demanding treatment, so I thought to use PixInsight. I took the image through a window and therefore I have a reflection on it. I tried to remove the pattern with a multiscale-median-transformation following a suggestion from Gerald but I had more success with a  fourier-transformation where I clone stamped away the horizontal pattern. However even if the pattern disappears (more or less) I still have a bluish veil. I tried to subtract the median of a small preview of the bluish veil from the entire image, but I'm not happy with the result. Can anyone suggest a cooking recipe?

General / Equatorial coordinates of cursor position
« on: 2014 November 15 06:33:45 »
Hi,
I recently discovered the image solver script and find it very useful. I suppose there is no way to see the equatorial coordinates of the current cursor position, right? Below on the left I just see the pixel coordinates... Is there any way to change this?

General / Fourier transform - what to clone stamp
« on: 2014 August 26 09:07:25 »
Hi,
I have a solar H-alpha image, which shows a stripe-pattern in parts of the left half of the image. I don't know where it comes from, but I wanted to erase it with the Fourier transform tool. However I find it difficult to understand what to erase in the fourier transformed images (using clone stamp). Can anybody help me to understand the fourier transformed images better? As far as I know high frequency structures should correspond to pixels in the center, right? So the stripe-pattern should be somewhere far from the center. I attach the image and the fourier transformed images as jpg. You can download the original fit file here (7MB):

General / Use Crop on Image container
« on: 2014 March 23 05:40:02 »
Hi, I'm trying to use the Crop-Tool to batch-increase the size of a set of images. At the beginning all the images have different sizes. I want to append additional (black) pixels on the right and the bottom of the images bringing all images to the same final pixelsize. I was trying with an image container, but it does not work. To all images the same number of pixels are added, hence I end again up with different sizes. Any suggestions?

General / Batch histogram transformation
« on: 2013 January 24 11:20:02 »
Hi,
I'm a newbie and would like to know if there is a way to apply a batch histogram transformation to a large set of images in a specified folder. The idea is to do the batch histogram transformation and then convert the images to jpg in order to give a quick look to all the images (e.g. to find satellite tracks) or to make a timelapse movie.
Thank you for your advise
Christof
