Hello Gerald,

Sorry for the delay in replying to your post.

I understand what you are doing and this is another solution to the problem of correcting bad columns within an image.
I look forward to your video being posted.

Martin

Hello,

I’m in, looking forward to it. Rogelio is a great source of advice on Pixinsight.

Hello All,

I too would like to see the results of Gerald's workflow - if Gerald & Kerry would allow us to see.

Hello Enzo,

Yes I can confirm that this latest version you have kindly posted works with blank entries as a value you need to change.
I have very quickly modified my collection of Flat file headers to now include the filter.

Thank you for your efforts, and indeed all who have contributed.

Hello All,

I have been following this closely with interest. I have a lot of flat files that don't have any filter type in the fits header so tonight I tried the script.
It failed as my entry for old keyword value is blank (see screen capture) and the net result it did not work.
I tried with another key word value like OBSERVER and this had a value already and I could change this successfully with the script.

So it wouldn't work with blank fields - any ideas gents

Thanks for the efforts all with this development.

Hello Mike,

I have to hold my hands up on this. It was my fault.
I got this message by setting the parameters in the dialogue box then dragging the triangle over to apply it to the image. Instead of clicking the Denoise button.

I put it down to my age!

The script works very well on my mono narrowband frames prior to stacking. I find it does not alter the structure contained in the picture but the pepper like noise.

Many thanks Mike for writing this useful script.

Hello,

I have run into a message from this excellent noise routine:-

Attempt to execute a Script instance recursively. Sorry, but this is not supported in this version of Pixinsight.

Version 1.14 of MureDenoise
Pixinsight Version 01.08.04.1195 Ripley (x64)
Running on a MacBook Pro under OSX 10.11.2 El Capitan

Is there a newer version of this script?

Thanks

Martin

Wish List / Adjustable mask while its active
« on: 2014 November 02 15:54:39 »
Hello All,

This feature may have been suggested in another post or indeed already available and I don't know about it.

What I would find useful is the ability to alter a mask either by increasing or decreasing its intensity while its being applied to an image in let's say one of the noise reduction routines.

What I mean is if a mask is set up and applied to an image prior to noise reduction then you could go back to the mask and tweak it if required then re-apply the noise reduction command.

This functionality may exist if it does then can some kind soul point me to how it's done.

Thanks

Martin

Hello Andres,

This is really great news, Will it work with the output from the Starlight Xpress Oculus camera by any chance.

Looking forward to trying it out if it can.

Hello Jim,

Well I think that's a very good service you are prepared to offer.
It's a very useful document to have to hand at times when processing.

Thanks Jim

Hello Phillip,

There is obviously something I am not doing then.
Would it be possible to discuss in a PM off the forum.

General / FIT file from Starlight Xpress Oculus Sky Camera
« on: 2014 June 22 09:24:14 »
Hello Group,

I have recently obtained one of these camera's and it produces a FIT file that Maxim DL can load and display.
But when I load it into Pixinsight and use the screen transfer function nothing is displayed within the image.
The only thing that seems to happen is the image goes from a grey rectangle to a white one.
I have tried manually playing with the histogram but cannot get anything from this FITS file.

Anyone with any idea's

I wanted to load and hopefully use the annotation function to its full potential.

Thanks for reading this

Regards All

Martin

Further experimentation by loading into Maxim DL and saving out FITS file under a different name and subsequently loaded into Pixinsight
gives the following:-

*** PCL Exception: PCL FITS Format Support: Unable to open FITS file:
/Users/me/Desktop/IMG00275M.fit
CFITSIO error message stack:

04 : /Users/me/Desktop/IMG00275M.fit
