Title: Poorest M42 from a newbie
Post by: ketut on 2014 November 12 20:06:29
Hi, so sorry for this poorest M42 image
This is my first DSO with a Canon 60D (unmodded)
30x 60sec ISO800 (unguided)
13 darks
13 bias

Cheers

For a series of unguided images, that's a pretty impressive start and shows great hope for the future.  Since they are so easy to take, I would definitely take more dark and bias frames.  Personally, I shoot 100 darks and 500 bias frames to build my masters, though I have the advantage of using a cooled CCD to control the temp.  But the more subframes the more you beat down the noise.

Best,

Jim

Modified camera would help a lot with those Ha regions, but nevertheless your image is excellent.

Thank you Zocky...
I just brought my 60D + clear glass filter (from Hap Griffin) to a technician for modification.
And, I'm waiting for my Orion SSAG from USA to my country.
Hope I can collect more data in the future :)
