File I/O Error in Blink Process
« on: 2016 April 09 23:09:09 »
Something odd is happening in the Blink process since I upgraded to Windows 10. I am receiving a file i/o error when attempting to move an image file to a 'Reject' folder. Something that I have done many times before but I now find that I am receiving a file i/o error that says that the source file does not exist. This is of course not correct as I successfully opened the file in the blink process. This is most puzzling and any assistance would be much appreciated. See attached image with a screen shot of the error that I am receiving.

Thanks in advance,
Rodney

there's a slight chance that you moved it by accident while moving another file with blink... can you check in the windows explorer if the file truly does exist?

Thanks Rob, but yes - I did check that a couple of times on the off chance that I had already moved it and it was definitely still in the source directory.

Sounds like another program is accessing the file when PI is trying to have the file moved. Could be any number of programs(anti-virus,malware, backup). Is this a Dell computer by chance? There have been loads of issues with Dell and PI.

Hmmm, 'tis a HP computer so not Dell. I tried rebooting but that didn't help. As indicated, the only variable that I can think of is that the computer has been installed with Windows 10. Previously under Windows 8 it was fine and I didn't have this problem.

I get the same fault with Win 7 x64.  I carefully select one only of the files in the Blink list, click on the Blink File Move icon, select the existing destination folder and immediately get the error message.  I've never used Blink File Move before so I don't know if it is a new 'problem'.  I have the latest version of PI with all updates installed and I have a home-assembled PC, Intel i7 CPU and 32Gb RAM.  The OP is using .fit files and mine was .xisf so no commonality there.  We both live in Australia though!  8)

Ha! Might be an Australian thing. Thanks for the re-test. Rick S has also replied with the same issue.
Lets see what develops.

I had not use blink in a couple of months but the move function was working then.  I am running Windows 7. There was an update to Blink just a week or 2 ago. I wonder if that is when this happened? Does anyone have PI on a Windows machine that doesn't have the updated Blink module? If so maybe they could try.

I also tried moving within the same drive, two a secondary local drive and to a network drive with the same error.

So I forgot I have Windows 10 on a separate drive on this computer with PI version 01.08.04.1185 installed along with older versions. The move function in Blink works fine in the .1185 version. I then went back to Windows 7 and version .1195 still not working. Then I rename the .1195 Blink module and copied the .1185 Blink module to the .1195 bin directory. Now the latest version of PI .1195 works with the old .1185 Blink module.

I hope that isn't too confusing.

I have just tested this on a PC at work and confirmed that this fault has come in with the recent update to the Blink module. I had not used PI on this machine for a couple of months and the Blink process worked fine. I then downloaded the latest update release, which included changes to the Blink process and - no go. The  fault now exists. I believe that this problem has started with the update with the package title "Blink module version 1.2.2.218 (update)".

This bug is now fixed with an update I have just released for all platforms (besides fixing this regression on Windows, the update improves error handling on the rest of platforms).

Sorry for the inconvenience.

The relevant fixes in several PCL source code components are now also available on the GitHub repositories.
