Excellent process. You might try adding noise rather than just 50% blend.
Also, will it work in areas of nebulosity? Or is it to restricted stars and background.

Great masking tricks. I struggled to get good results with the wavelets, but swapped to HDRMT instead. Works a treat now. Thanks for sharing.
