HT or SFT functionality very messed up
« on: 2016 January 13 15:38:48 »
Since installing yesterday's updates, something is very wrong - though I do not know if there is a connection.  With HT "reset", "track view" and "preview" on the process's lower tab clicked, I usually see a histogram in the upper window and can adjust the black point, etc.  Clicking "track view" normally brings up the before and after histograms, but all I see is the diagonal line in the lower histogram and a squished histogram peaking out of the left axis of the upper histogram.  HT Previews look normal, but any slight adjustment of the black point slider nearly completely blacks out the preview.  If I apply a non-adjusted extracted Lum layer (this is DSLR data) or a duplicate of the linear image as a mask, the mask is almost entirely red, even though the Lum layer and duplicate look correct before being applied.   I've checked with several images I've been working on for the past few days and all of them can non longer be adjusted or masked.

I am experiencing this problem (fully updated PixInsight 01.08.04.1195) while trying to create/apply a luminance mask to an image as a prelude to performing a color saturation boost.

The attached screen captures show the before/after of applying the mask to the image.

Could someone provide guidance how to correctly apply the mask as I'm unable to proceed beyond this point.

Thanks,
--jim

Jim!
Your L Image is still near linear unstretched. Means it is very near to black.(AND clipped)
A near black mask, or linear unstretched image supresses everything when used as a mask and is visible as deep red mask.

Your luminance is only stretched on the SCREEN with STF but not in reality with histogramm.
So, if you stretch your L with the histogramm,  the difference will be better seen in the mask preview.

And your zoom in the Histogramm is 55x, thats to high, therefore the peak is more far to the right... outside the histogrammdisplay and invisible.

Everything is correct.

Gerald.

Thanks for your helpful explanation.  :)
