I have downloaded the installer for windows but I have no option to uninstall the current version. There is no uninstall in the start menu or in window's uninstall programs.

Is there an uninstall command that I can run instead?

Nevillel,

There is an option to install the uninstaller when you install PixInsight. I've always found that this option is checked by default, and I never changed this.
The uninstaller should be available as entry of the PixInsight Platform folder in the all programs menue. On my installation this entry points to uninstall.exe in the PixInsight installation directory.

Hope this helps,

I was just going to answer your question: the configuration file is Library/PixInsight/PixInsight.plist on your home folder.

I don't know why you had a UI scaling factor of 4. Did you set this factor manually before running this version?

I found, that my previous version of Pixinsight was using PixInsight64.plist as its preference file. So I hardlinked that to PixInsight.plist. It seems to be working, but I'm wondering if there will be problems with using the old preference file later on.

Code: [Select]
foobar@imac:~/Library/PixInsight $ ln PixInsight64.plist PixInsight.plist

OSX: 10.10.5 (14F1021)

Old Pixinsight: PixInsight Core 01.08.03.1123 Ripley (x64)
New Pixinsight: PixInsight Core 01.08.04.1193 Ripley (x64)

Best regards,
 Florian

Hi folks

Just seen the post regarding the new updated version and the problem when using a Dell computer. I have a Dell machine and there is no way I have the ability to make the changes to the machine that you say are required to get the new Pixinsight software to run on my machine. Presumably my only option is to continue to use the existing version of Pxinsight. Presumably this will continue to run???

Regards

Alec

Is there any way I can save the old screen format before the new rev.? Seems every time there is a new revision released I have to reset all my custom icon formatting on the screen...

I use the new Pixinsigh on a Macbook Pro 13" NON retina (1280x800), and the new UI keeps expanding beyond the edge of the screen. When it starts it looks fine (see image 1 bellow),but as soon as I load anything it automatically expands beyond the edge and can't be resized (see image 2 bellow).
Also in the previous version I could start some processing and switch to another desktop (space). Now durring the processing, the open window (like STF or the current process) keeps poping beck to the front and take over the focus in my other desktop (spaces).
Both of these issues are very annoying.

i have not noticed your issue #1, but issue #2 is happening to me. i am using TotalSpaces on Yosemite and so i've assumed that the problem is because of TotalSpaces but it sounds like it can happen in a stock configuration.

when a script opens/processes a new image, PI comes to the front and steals focus (it has been like that forever for me). and as you say, now whenever a process finishes, it also raises. this is new behavior. luckily it does not switch spaces, so all i have to do is click another window to get rid of PI but it is annoying.

Rob

On my Windows 7 system if I have another program on top of PI and PI completes a process like with a batch process or process container PI then comes to the front. The way I get around this is I actually minimize PI and it stays minimized until I decide to restore PI to an windowed or maximized condition.

i guess i can try that, though the concept of minimizing windows is slightly different on OSX than on windows. there's also "hiding" an app, which i can try. i'll play around with it.

See the Video Hardware section of the System Requirements page. Your screen resolution is well below the reasonable minimum requirements. You'll need to reorganize and/or close tool bars to reduce the requirements in horizontal resolution. You may also need to close some explorer windows, or move them to the right side. Working in full screen mode is also a good idea to maximize available space, as well as using a non-native menu bar to increase the dimensions of maximized images. All of these customizations will help you using PixInsight on a very small screen.

It is true that, although I have tried to avoid it, the PixInsight main window is still being raised automatically by OS X when it finishes a running process. This should not happen because PixInsight is not trying to activate itself or stealth the keyboard focus, and in fact this does not happen on FreeBSD, Linux and Windows. This is a problem with Qt on OS X that I'll try to fix in the next version. So far we have had too many priorities to invest the required time to work on this issue.

Annoyance is a relative concept. For example, both of these issues are relatively minor IMO, considering the amount of work behind this version of PixInsight. I am sorry for not being able to fulfill your expectations. Hopefully I'll be able at some point in the future.

I am right now trying to fix this problem. In the meanwhile, here is a workaround. Before launching a process or running a script, open the Process Console window and enable its sticked state (third button on the top-right corner). This should prevent the spontaneous raise of the main window and/or tool windows when the process finishes.

Hopefully this won't be a problem anymore in the next version.

I have good news: this focus stealth problem is now fixed on OS X and Windows. To be fair, the bug was entirely mine, not a Qt one. The next version of PixInsight, which is due this week, will of course include this bug fix. Thank you for your patience.
