PixInsight 1.3 - Problem re-seting 'settings'
« on: 2008 November 16 16:37:45 »
Hi, when I try to reset the setting I am getting the following error:

'
The uninstall mode is not available because there are other intances of the PixInsight Core application still running.
'

I rebooted my computer and get the same error. I am trying to upgrade from 1.2 to 1.3.

I am running XP 64

Any suggestions?
thanks
Stephane

Thanks you Sergio, last night I deleted the registry keys manually and installed the new version successfully.

Hi Stephane,

Do you still have these problems with version 1.3? They should be fixed now, so if you still have them, please let me know because in that case there's something wrong with the new version.

You should be aware that these "persistent" instances of PixInsight 1.2 seem to be due to malwares (spywares or Trojan horses) preventing termination of the PixInsight Core application. I'd check the computer with a good antispyware/antivirus tool.

Hi Juan, I did not try to reset the setting after installing 1.3, I'll try tonight and let you know. When I tried to reset the settings of 1.2 and got the error, I looked at all the task running and PixInsight was not on the list. I'll run a full scan with my Mcafee virus software tonight and make sure I don't have any 'disease'   running on my box.

Thanks
Stephane

Juan,

I also had those "persistent" instances of PI 1.2 once on my system. I believe they were due to Windows crashes, not due to some Virus/Trojan. As far as virus scanners can tell, my system is clean...
