File size D810A explode
« on: 2015 July 01 23:06:23 »
Hi,
when processing files via PI, subs explode from around 40 MB to 400MB going from RAW to Fit, when I use debayer in PI.
If I use PS to debayer I end up with around 100MB files. My guess is that PI saves files in 32 bit, is there a way to save them in 16bit ...

Thanks,
Yves

If I manually store a file it is 200MB, I checked the settings in Format explorer and it says 16 bit true ...
I would already be happy if during calibration/regsitration the size is 200MB ...

Yes you are given the choice of different bit resolutions when you do a 'save as' with the formats that allow that. For myself I only keep the raw camera files, the integrated masters(32 or 64 bit) and the project files after I calibrate and stack.  The generated subs are no longer any use and can be simply recreated fairly fast from the raw files and the master calibration files. External drives are cheap and easy storage solution today especially when you factor in the time for the work you put into your imaging.

As far as doing a batch save of a folder of files that can be done with an image container but I'm not sure how to specify 16 bit vs 32 bit.

One last thing when you do a save as with the xisf format you can compress the file during saving for some space saving.

That is what I'm looking for, when processing files in batch I would prefer the smaller file size ...
So it would be nice if I can use xsif 16bit compressed in a batch ...
Anyone?
