Missing Processes on restart
« on: 2015 May 28 13:22:29 »
Hi,

I'm hoping to get a little help here. For some inexplicable reason on a recent restart of PI all sorts of things seem to have gone missing or have been reset......I'm also continuing to find new issues. For example many of the processes that I had moved to Favorites have lost that status (no problem I've restored them); several Scripts failed to show up (essentially every Utility script listed alphabetically after "L" ??) - again no problem I've restored them. The most recent issue has me stumped though, I am unable to open or save an image in TIFF format - I need to find a way to resolve this for sure. Clearly something has gone amiss and I'm hoping someone can suggest a solution....any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bill

Thanks Juan, great link....it has answered a couple of other questions I have.

With respect to my problem I think I worked out a solution last night. First I did a complete uninstall / reinstall - unfortunately this didn't help solve the issue. As I also run PI on my laptop I compared the two installs folder by folder and discovered that the following three subfolders on my desktop contained NO files - ProgramFiles/Pixinsight/doc/...docs....scripts.....tools. I simply copied all of these folders in their entirety from my laptop to my desktop (not the most elegant fix but everything seems to be working fine now).

I am glad that I resolved the situation but I am extremely perplexed in how it could have happened in the first place and why a reinstall didn't correct it. Any idea why this might have occurred?
