Batch Preprocessing and Dark Scaling
« on: 2015 May 26 20:11:58 »
Does BPP automatically time-scale and temperature-scale a master dark?  I've got a master dark made from 20 minute, -20C subs.  It was prepared via BPP in an earlier processing  (my M1 image).  Can I use that master (plus a master bias) to calibrate 2 minute, -10C lights in a new BPP run?

yes, however the process underlying the BPP script (imagecalibration) does not look at duration or temperature, but rather scales the dark until the noise in the output is minimized.

i don't know whether or not this dark optimization (as it's called in PI) is turned on by default in BPP or not.

Thanks, Rob.  That helps.  Now, if I'm only using the master dark to support Cosmetic Correction, should it be the same duration and temperature as the lights?
