Benefits of XISF Files
« on: 2015 March 27 08:27:47 »
Hi Group,
Pardon my ignorance on this.  I've made a modest attempt to keep up with the discussions regarding Fits and XISF files.  But have just now processed using xisf for the first time.
Is there a brief summary of what I gain (laymen's terms) by moving to the new file extension/format?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Geoff,
thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

In the FWIW catagory, I find that processing and saving in xisf is no different than FITs.
Although I do suspect that the technical advantages of the new format go way beyond anything I'll ever use them for.  But that's just me.

I'm happy to get on board.
