Sample placement in DBE / Colocación de muestras en DBE
« on: 2008 September 03 02:54:24 »
Hi people,

In two words, if PixInsight isn't a program for processing astronomical images, why does DA desperately insist on searching "stars"? ;). I'm trying to join several panoramic images into a larger one and it's really hard to align trees, buildings, antennas, clouds and so on...

Must I have to use another software, that lets me specify the exact coordinates of the align points? :P (hugin seems like a good choice).

Edit: replaced "DBE" with "DA".

Hola chicos,

Edito: he cambiado "DBE" por "DA".

And who told you that?

I assume you're talking about DynamicAlignment (DA), not DBE. Indeed DA works by finding centroids of stars (or stellar like features) in the image, then using them as registration references.

Heaven forbids  :D

A bit of patience is what I ask (hmmm, where did I hear this before?). I'm working hard on an automatic image registration (and mosaicing) system. It can work with stars as reference points, as well as corners (I'm using a SUSAN corner detector with good results), both detected automatically. The registration uses a fully projective model (eight parameters) so it is capable of translation, rotation, scaling, tilting and keystoning.
