How to load multi FITS then convert to color?
« on: 2015 February 11 17:09:32 »
Just starting out on PI and have bought all 3 videos (and watched them).

One question - How do you load multiple Fits?

This is driving me crazy.  Eg like in Registax or Deep Sky Stacker or Maxim DL does it so easily and automatically.
I am a member of Slooh.com and I will usually get back say one calibrate red green blue and luminance fit as well as a png file.

I know i can use multi channel combine tool for one colour of each only but what if if I want to load say 10 fits of each colour so eg 40 fits in all?
Would greatly appreciate ANY reference to HELP videos or instruction examples.  Is it even possible?  The termonology in PI can itself be sometimes confusing to a noob.

Please put me out of my misery.

Thanks,

Gary Mitchell :'(

UPDATE :- OK so now im using the image intergration tool but end up with a grey scale image.  HOW DO I CONVERT IT TO COLOR?

Lack of documentation is very frustrating for such an expensive program.

Integrate the channels separately using ImageIntegration. Then use ChannelCombination to create the color version. Then use BackgroundNeutralization and ColorCalibration to get the balance right.

PS: if you feel that PI is expensive, then astrophotography may be the wrong hobby for you. How much money do you spend on telescope, mount, camera, lenses, filters, books,... ? However, I share your feelings regarding documentation. Screen the web for web sites such as PixInsight Resources, Warren Kelllers Videos or Harrys Astroshed.

Many thanks.  I used to have a boat and I thought that was expensive. Actually that's the reason I'm poor now.

...

And astrophotography will even get you poorer - at least moneywise. In other respects, astrophotography is very rewarding.. ;)
