Issues with HDR compositon
« on: 2015 January 28 10:53:10 »
Hi All,

I'm trying to use HDR composition to combine different exposures of M42 but something is not right.

It will happily align the core & get the trapezium correctly aligned but no other stars are, they are slightly off giving a double star effect.

I 'm struggling to get my head round this as I tried overlapping the both images & they do line up perfectly. I followed Harry's tutorial so I believe my settings are correct & I also made sure that both images were the same size when cropping them.

I've included some pics, one of my settings & one of the actual problem so you can see for yourself.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Jeff

If anyone could help & offer some advice, I'd really appreciate as I'm getting really frustrated with this as it makes no sense - If the stars in the trapezium are spot on surely the rest will be as well?

Both images were taken with a QHY8 camera on a WO 110FLT scope with 0.8x FF/FL.

D'oh!  ::)

That's it fixed now. I've spent all day trying to learn new techniques on how to process my images & just forgot all about star alignment.

Thanks Dimitris, much appreciated.

Jeff
