Drag mouse to select area on Yosemite
« on: 2015 January 24 03:53:24 »
Hi,

I am new to Pixinsight so maybe this is not a bug but me using it wrongly. I am trying to select an area using the mouse, left klicking an my starting point and then dragging it to select an area. However, the only thing I get is a sort of cross hair showing the pixel values. According to some videos on the web etc. it should work dragging the mouse across the area of interest.

Did I miss something ?

On Windows, first you have to press Alt+N on keyboard and then drag a mouse to select the area.
I don't know for Yosemite but probably it is something similar.

yes, I want to create one or more previews. I can do that, the only problem is that I cannot use the mouse to drag it across an area I am interested in. Whenever I create a new preview I am prompted to type in the coordinates (Left, Top, Width, Height). It is a bit awkward doing it that way because it would be much faster using the mouse. See https://pixinsight.com/doc/legacy/LE/08_previews/creating_previews/creating_previews.html .

if you click the icon in the toolbar that i've pointed an arrow at, you should be able to then drag out a box with the mouse to create a preview.

Thanks :)

Now it works. I was using the "New Preview" button but should have clicked on the "New Preview Mode" button. Alt+N works too, so I suppose I had the wrong window activated when I pressed Alt+N.

Thank you for your help :)
