Help with Blink Module - Make video
« on: 2014 December 23 21:30:55 »
HI

I am a new Pixinsight user.

I have about 9 hours of images of comet lovejoy already processed and registered in PI. I have used the blink module to review the images and they are looking good.

I want to use PI to make the animation using the blink module but cant find a tutorial or instructions anywhere.

after loading images ad pressing the crop and create video button, the blink module works insofar as it makes the png files but crashes trying to make the video. I have downloaded and installed ffmpeg, But I'm guessing PI needs to know where it is installed? where do i find that in PI?

Are there any tutorials or instructions at all.?

Thanks very much
Karen

i think if you search the forum for "ffmpeg" or "blink ffmpeg" you might find some hints. i have never used the built-in video maker and have always just called ffpmeg or other programs on the output files from blink.

anyway in one thread nicolay posted a screenshot of the video maker interface; in the box that says what program to run (filled in with just "ffmpeg" in his example), maybe if you put the full path to the ffmpeg executable it would work. i assume on windows this would probably look like "C:\Program Files\...\...\ffmpeg" but having never installed ffmpeg on a windows box i would not know what the path should be.

Karen,

Download the latest 32-bit FFMPEG. Open the archive and copy FFMPEG.exe to the '\PixInsight\bin\' directory. Now you can use the standard FFMPEG arguments within Blink.
