"file:///.file/id=6571367.997453" is what Apple calls a "file reference URL" (see for example this document). It seems that OS X 10.10 has changed the way file references are sent to applications...From what I have read, OS X 10.10 is causing application compatibility problems. For this reason we have not updated our machines, which continue running 10.9.5 for now (installing .0 OS X versions is almost invariably a serious error IMHO). Right now I have no idea of what's happening, but will try to find a solution. The workaround is obvious: double click on the workspace to open files.
