Sony Raw Files

Hi All,
I have been trying to use the ARW raw files from my Sony NEX-7 camera but when I process them in PI, I cannot get the correct colour balance. Any suggestions?
Cheers Grant

Grant,
Are you talking about stacked images or a single image ARW opened to the workspace? What exact type of color problem are you seeing? I been using Nex-5's for the past 3 years for all my imaging.

I am just using single images of nightscapes - 25 second exposures at 3200 ASA. I am opening the ARW files via the file open command, then debayering. I don't seem to be able to get the colour balance right, even with extensive fiddling.

For debayering make sure your using RGGB as the pattern. Next open ScreenTransferFunction(STF) and deselect the Link RGB Channels button on the top left. Next click the Auto Stretch button. You should have a somewhat correct color image. STF is just giving you a preview of the image stretched but has not applied an actual stretch to the image. If you try saving the image at this stage you will have a very dark and poor color image.
Your single sub image can be processed much like a stacked image. I would suggest looking at some of the many tutorials online. Harry's Astro Shed is a good place to start.
