Module opening problems
« on: 2008 June 24 03:18:49 »
Hi PI Guys,

Firstly, really enjoying using PI Core...superb software.

However, for a while now I've been having a problem with various modules opening correctly. The modules concerned seem to be the ATrous wavelets one, the curves one and the histogram one. Basically when I open them they appear on the screen with the title bar and the window below is massively squashed up into a few mm. If I place the mouse on the bottom side of the pane it will pop open in that direction, then I have to do the same in the sideways direction as well.

On top of this, the ATrous wavelets window usually opens with the "Detail Layer 1/4" part (with the noise reduction, structure protection and deringing) completely missing. I can close the module and reopen it and its still not there. I usually need to close PI completely and reopen it again to get that part of the ATrous window to appear again.

I'm running under Windows XP Pro and I've even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the whole package but with no change in behaviour.

I can live with this, but its just a bit of a pain. I wondered if you had seen this before or knew of a way to solve it?

Cheers

Hi Simon

Thank you for your support words :)

These are all known issues that of course will not happen in the new version 1.2.

For now, here are the workarounds:

1. Run the PixInsight core application.

2. Open the ATrousWaveletTransform (ATW) interface. Make sure that the Wavelet Layers is visible.

3. The noise reduction section isn't visible for now. Expand the ATW window vertically. Do it quite severely; let it occupy most of the available vertical space on the workspace.

3. Exit PixInsight, then run it again. Now the ATW window shows the noise reduction section. You can resize it to a reasonable height.

To prevent this problem, simply don't collapse the Wavelet Layers section. As I've said, this won't happen in version 1.2; I already have this bug fixed.

Now the problems with CurvesTransform, etc. This is also a bug, and of course it has been fixed in 1.2. This happens because you have exited the application with these windows shaded (you shade a window by clicking the "diode" button on its title bar). To prevent this, just take the precaution to unshade all processing windows before exiting PixInsight.

Sorry for the inconveniences. I am delaying the release of 1.2 because it comes with new functionality that requires thorough testing. I cannot work faster; I have to ask for more patience again...

Hi Juan,

Many thanks for the rapid response. I'm glad you know about these bugs. And I have no problem waiting for the next version.....I know these things take time and I know it will be worth the wait.

Cheers
