I have been using build 1087 since its release with no issues whatsoever. A few days ago, I purchased a new printer and configured it with a static IP address.
When I start Pixinsight, the splash screen appears with a message "Loading Printer Settings..." and the program hangs for a full 5 minutes before finally starting up.
There are no permissions issues, I have administrative rights to the machine, I have allowed Pixinsight through the firewall and I'm not sure why installation of a network printer should cause the program to hang for this long.
Trying to configure the printer through the Pixinsight file menu, also causes the program to hang. It eventually finds the printer, but not before a long delay. I do not have, nor have ever had any other network configuration problems and all of my networked devices respond appropriately to commands from all other computers and applications running on my network without hanging.
Removing this network printer and assigning another printer, such as a fax, or Microsoft XPS writer -or configuring the printer as a local or shared printer attached to any networked computer, including the Pixinsight host, results in the program starting up a bit slower that previous versions, but it starts without hanging. Reinstalling my network printer results in the program once again hanging, so I am reasonably certain at least this version of Pixinsight cannot play nice with printers attached as network devices. I'm not sure why Pixinsight should even care and I don't even wish to print from it. I'm running build 1092 on a Windows 7 Premium SP1 system.
Thanks,
Jayme
