Image Integration Problem
« on: 2014 March 30 21:51:36 »
Ive  posted earlier about a problem Im having trying to integrate 19 fit images and that the process ends in the PC going into the blue screen of death.
I have, after many restarts, been able to narrow the fault down to this.
All images integrate fine if I dont select the Evaluate Noise option in the Image Integration drop down.
If I DO select it the system crashes as soon as it starts the noise evaluation of the integrated image.
My PC runs 8gb ram Windows 7 ultimate 64bit has no major issues and has run PI faultlessly in other versions prior to 1.08 .01 .1087, but they were versions of maybe 16 months ago to be honest.
Thanks for any help

what if you clear the file cache but then turn on noise evaluation? i wonder if your filesystem is corrupted somehow.

Is that something I can do within PI ?? .. If so, can I get you to tell me the command please

open the ImageIntegration process. on the bottom strip there is an icon that looks like the mouse pointer arrow (bottom right). click that and you'll get a dialog box that offers to let you clear the memory and disk caches, and even turn it off completely.

Hi Rob

Thanks for the cache advise .. I have cleared it and tried the process again.
Doesnt matter what I do now I cant get it to reproduce the error now.
As far as the file system goes .. i opened all the files without problem and ran image inspection statistics .. no errors .. so that confirmed for me very early that the problem was not file structure related. I am doing a reprocess here so the files were once and OK .. anyway .. I cant fault it now even though on the day it just continually shut the machine down.
Thanks for your help

well what i meant is that the file cache might have become corrupted somehow, causing PI to crash.

the file cache contains the noise statistics for your images, so that once the stats have been computed once PI does not have to keep re-computing them every time you run ImageIntegration.

anyway good that it is resolved, one way or another.

What reason is there for PI not clearing this cache automatically when the image is finished and the program closed? Or at least cleared upon restart.

A BSOD error *always* denotes a hardware or low-level software (that is, device driver related) problem. It is by no means a normal application crash. An application has no way to cause a BSOD by itself. However, an application exploiting hardware resources intensely can trigger the cause of a BSOD error. This typically happens as a result of a faulty memory module, adapter or motherboard.

Can you upload the images that are giving you this problem? In this way I can try to reproduce it.

Because the cache would be mostly useless if it is cleared that way. Anyway this problem has nothing to do with ImageIntegration's cache.
