TGVDenoise & linear images
« on: 2014 February 25 03:08:52 »
As stated in different Forum posts, linear images may be processed with TGVDenoise
(recommendably using Local Support). As far as I can tell, the result is no longer linear.
Is this finding correct, and if so, is this effect intended?
Peter.

Quite the contrary, images remain linear. No stretching is performed, and additive zero mean noise was assumed, so in theory no changes in lightness should be applied.
In practice, however, you may find that images are no longer photometrically accurate, and locally may loss the lineariry. This is due to the nature of the regularizator (the TGV functional).
