Rick,

Maybe its the combination of my Apogee F16M and MaximDL, but sometimes I can't get them to play nice together at all.  Latest issue is that for some reason when I bring an image into PI the cores of the stars are black when actually they are just saturated.  At first it happened with CCDStack too, but then they did a patch and it fixed the problem there, but still other issues.  So my current routine, which is a real pain, is to capture everything in MaximDL, then save in CCDStack to clear the artifacts, then save in Nebulosity to get them in a format PI will read properly.

Seems I am alone in these travails, since I have been having them ever since I got the F16M but its time to look for a different solution even if its just a glitch somewhere in my system.

Best,

Jim

Very odd, Jim!  I have a U16M and have never seen this.  I'd be poking around to see what is going on with the data values in the star cores.  Still, no reason why you shouldn't evaluate other options.  Hope you find something that works well for your needs.

Cheers,
Rick.

Great news is that the author of AstroPhotography Tool (APT) has seen the light and has joined our ranks

Currently the only way to use APT on Mac is with the help of Windows emulator :(

Yeah, but that jacks up the expense. I'd have to buy the emulator and Windows just to use APT. I guess I'll stay with Nebulosity. Like I said it earlier in the thread...it gets the job done.

There could be a Mac/Linux version if you integrate APT to PI ;)

i don't know if the market is big enough to make it worthwhile but your main competitor seems to be a hardcore windows programmer and from what i can tell a mac version of his software is never coming. so that might be a niche for you.

What I am eagerly waiting for is the SBIG support. Once that is in place, I'll absolutely buy APT and use it happily.

Until then, welcome to the PI club!  :)

That soon?? You rock, thanks. Looking forward to using the 'fully operational APT'...
