Forum folks,

Great responses.  You have me intrigued by Sequence Generator Pro.  Need to look into that and APT.

Reason I ask is that I continue to have issues with MaximDL.  I have to jump through several hoops just to get MaximDL and PixInsight to work together and I am tired of the fight so looking for new capture software.  Was going to try the SkyX Camera Add-on but wanted to canvas the group.

Thanks for the great help and suggestions.

Best,

Jim

What sort of issues, Jim?  I've never had problems bringing uncalibrated subs from Maxim into PI with a variety of different cameras.

Cheers,
Rick.

Yes, I did this when I used to use DSLR. Kept it nice and simple.

If you have a Canon DSLR then BackyardEOS is the gold standard. A version for Nikon cameras is expected later in the year...

Hi,

I use APT for both Canon and StarlightXpress CCD, controls camera and filterwheel. Nebulosity for SBIG. APT will come with support for SBIG in next release, released within few weeks. Has a lot of great support functions.

Rick,

Maybe its the combination of my Apogee F16M and MaximDL, but sometimes I can't get them to play nice together at all.  Latest issue is that for some reason when I bring an image into PI the cores of the stars are black when actually they are just saturated.  At first it happened with CCDStack too, but then they did a patch and it fixed the problem there, but still other issues.  So my current routine, which is a real pain, is to capture everything in MaximDL, then save in CCDStack to clear the artifacts, then save in Nebulosity to get them in a format PI will read properly.

Seems I am alone in these travails, since I have been having them ever since I got the F16M but its time to look for a different solution even if its just a glitch somewhere in my system.

Best,

Jim

yeah, in this case as far as i know there's just nebulosity and equinox image. not sure if EI can control a DSLR; it's mainly focused on SBIG cameras.

at any rate i have to have a virtual windows 7 machine for ascom anyway, so running BYE in there is not that big of a deal. seems 100% compatible with VMWare at least.

My imaging rig is an old G4 Powerbook so Nebulosity is the only way for me. It still works. I'm sure backyardEOS is much better but I have no reason to upgrade at this point.
