Unable to install Updates

I am unable to install any updates to my pixinsight (MacOS X 10.9.1).  I get the following:
"Unable to install updates: Can't find required component(s)"

Any help would be appreciated

This error should never happen under normal conditions. It means that either your installed PixInsight application lacks some files, or your system has very strange file permissions on some system folders.

I'd download the installation package again, remove the PixInsight.app that you have now, and unpack a new one. Let me know if this works.

Hi

When I update PI to 1087 (x64) on my laptop all seems to work fine.
PI starts and reports that 3 new updates are available.

But when closing PI to install these 3 updates this error appears.

I use Win 7 Pro with SP 1. On my Desktop PC all works fine.

What went wrong?

James,

It's been a while since your post about being unable to install the updates on your version of PI, and I'm hoping you've solved your problem by now.  I too had the same difficulty, and unbeknownst to me, I was using a corrupted program with missing files.  After I reinstalled it, as Juan suggested,  the updates were installed seamlessly when I next deployed PI.

No I have not yet solved this problem on my laptop.
I have also removed PI and reinstalled it. But no chance. Still the same error.

Maybe I reinstall Win 7 on my laptop. Currently I use my desktop PC with PI.

Same problem for me with Win7 x64. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but the problem is still there.

I have had exactly the same Problem, long time ago as I tried a trial version also since I bought the full version some weeks ago. (Win 7 / 64 Bit)

I get it run by disabling my firewall and virus-scanner (I use Bitdefender) the updates were then installed without any problem, then I re-enabled Bitdefender again, and since that point, all later PI updates were installed without any problem.

Maybe this helps..
