How to generate a luminence mask?
« on: 2014 January 13 14:55:06 »
Sorry for the newbie question.

I know how to generate star masks and range masks.

In some of the processing examples, especially when trying to process luminence only (ie protect background)  as in applying color saturation or vice versa eg when applying ACDNR such processes, call for creating a luminence mask.

How do I generate such a luminence mask?

One way (unstretched image)

Another way (with a stretched image): Just clone the image and then drag the side tab of the clone onto the side tab of the image. You can alter the clone before this if you need to.

I just made a post about this (although the OP subject title isn't clear) here: http://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=6567.0
See post #5 there for some process icons to assist in the mask generation.

I just updated the subject so easier to find in future, and also moved the zip file of process icons to post #1.
