Multiple selectable root folders for FileExplorer
« on: 2013 December 27 05:31:06 »
Its time for next year wishes ...

The file explorer is nice, but it is some hat inconvenient to navigate between different sub-trees. For example of have all my master in one location, the currently worked image raw files in another sub-tree, the currently image files somewhere else and yet another location where I have personal scripts and prepared processes.

It would be nice to have a few configurable named 'root folders' (somewhat like 'Documents' and 'Pictures' in Windows, but easily configurable). It should be easy to switch between root folders (like of a drop down list of locations bar) and easy to modify/add/delete them. Each root folder could even keep track of its own settings (especially filters and what to show).

Ideally the root locations could also be available when opening and saving files in general from PI.

I know that there are various OS specific ways (soft links, drives, have multiple explorer opened,...) to somewhat achieve the same result, but not in a way easily usable from within PI.
