OS10 Dynamic Crop and Zooming In
« on: 2013 December 25 14:52:11 »
Hi Folks,

Dynamic crop does not seem to function normally with OS10 Mavericks and PI version .1071.  I am able to adjust what I want to crop very coarsely.  However, once I zoom to fine tune the crop the handles no longer function/appear and I am unable to adjust the crop.  Also, if I zoom back out the I am still unable to adjust the crop .  To gain control over dynamic crop again I must close dynamic crop and start again.

Cheers,

perhaps the dynamic crop tool has become unselected for some reason. on the toolbar at the top there are icons for the different cursor modes. see if clicking on the one that looks like a crop icon. it should be at the right hand side of the cursor mode pane.

Hi Rob,

That was it.  I did not realize I had to go back and change the cursor mode to crop once I zoomed in on the image.  Thanks for your help.

no problem but i wonder if the cursor mode should change if you zoom in. are you using a scroll wheel on your mouse or a trackpad or…?

in other words it might still be a UI related bug.

Hi Rob,

I am using the trackpad on the laptop.  I zoom in with the cursor control keys.  This is where I am changing the cursor mode.  If I recall in Windows, when I went back to the Dynamic Crop the cursor mode changed back crop.  But that does not seem to be the case with OS10 Mavericks.

if i understand you right, you clicked the zoom in icon and explicitly changed modes. and then on windows, if you clicked the DynamicCrop window, PI would automatically switch cursor modes back to DC, is that right?

i'd expect something like that to be the same across platforms, so maybe juan can comment on that.

anyway, i don't know if multitouch gestures need to be enabled in the OS but you should be able to zoom in and out with two-finger up and down swipes on the trackpad. and if you hold down the space bar you should be able to pan around with the trackpad (with one finger).

Hi Rob,

I went back and confirmed on the .1015 and .1071 releases of PI for Windows and the behavior is exactly the same as the .1071 PI for OS10.  I am wrong.

Thanks again for your help.
