MaskedStretch, Iterations and Target Median

When you decide to use this script to stretch the image, based on what you decide for number of Iterations and Target Median?
Is the information comes from some place as Statistics or you just "know" it?

i usually first apply the autoSTF to the HT and then to the image, then look at the median and use that in MS. undo the HT and then apply MS; 20 or 30 iterations is usually okay. no idea if this is a proper strategy but it seems to work for me.

i suppose one could take the statistics of the realtime preview of the HT and avoid applying the HT to the image.

Thanks Rob,
is it always advisable to transfer autoSTF to HT and not to stretch the image manually only with HT?

actually probably stretching by hand is a better idea (more control), though STF has gotten much better at doing the right thing in the latest 1.8 builds.
