Running PI under Win7 32-bit
« on: 2013 December 12 19:51:21 »
Hi guys,

I've been running PI on my Mac without any problem. Awesome piece of work here.

Now, I got another PC running Win7 32-bit. I've downloaded PI for Win 32-bit. It does says that this version is obsolete.

I installed it anyway. Some function works (like Debayer script), and others like ImageIntegration doesn't (not enough memory).

So,does this mean I have no choice but to install Win7 64-bit version to run PI ? Or did I missed something here?

Thanks for the help.

Regards

See http://pixinsight.com/sysreq/index.html: "All 32-bit versions of PixInsight are now officially obsolete. The current version 1.8.0 of PixInsight is only available as a 64-bit application on FreeBSD, Linux and Mac OS X. A 32-bit Windows version is still being released for compatibility with legacy hardware and operating systems, but it is not supported and will be discontinued during 2013. "

I have to run it under 32-bit on my soon to be replaced old laptop.  You can increase available RAM by executing the approprite command in the command prompt window as Admin:

bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072

bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 2048

bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 2560

bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa
